THE REVERIE OF THE VAGARIOUS COSMOS

In my conceptual photography practice, I delve into the inherent spirituality woven into the fabric of everyday experiences. As a queer artist, my work investigates the dynamic interplay between queerness and spirituality, and the complex relationship between trauma and peace.
My photographs use a visual metaphor of classical imagery and subjects of historical religious artwork as a manifestation of institutionalized religion and how my history affected my relationship to my spiritual and physical body. The surreal landscapes and characters of my dreams and nightmares are temptations — Lambs in wolves clothing. These visual echoes initiate a dialogue between tradition and modernity, inviting reflection on the ever-evolving nature and humanity of spirituality. Each sculpture, meticulously crafted for adornment, emerges as a tangible bridge connecting historical portrayals of the divine to a more inclusive, diverse perspective.

Integrating classical elements and surreal dreamscapes my photographs craft a narrative that challenges expectations and provides coherence between the surreal and classical. A deliberate interplay which fosters meaningful discourse and critically engages with and reinterprets personal spiritual narratives.
